Overview

HANNON INTERNATIONAL INVESTMENTS presents Green Granary Tunisia, a strategic large-scale agricultural development initiative focused on food security, modern farming and sustainable crop production. Located in the high-rainfall agricultural regions of Mateur, Bizerte and North-West Tunisia, the project aims to progressively develop more than 5,000 hectares of managed farmland. Its integrated crop rotation strategy combines durum wheat, barley, canola and faba beans to improve soil fertility, diversify agricultural production and optimize yields. The project incorporates precision-guided machinery, drones, soil monitoring, conservation agriculture, mechanized harvesting and modern grain storage facilities. With a target annual output of 22,000 tonnes by Year 5, Green Granary Tunisia seeks to strengthen Tunisia's agricultural productivity and develop an efficient, technology-driven agribusiness platform. Investment opportunities include strategic equity participation, agricultural joint ventures, mechanization partnerships and grain storage infrastructure financing. All investment, production and financial targets remain subject to land availability, feasibility studies and agricultural performance.

Risks and exit

Key risks

  • Agricultural land availability and legal access restrictions
  • Rainfall variability, drought and climate change
  • Crop yield variability and adverse weather events
  • Grain and oilseed market price fluctuations
  • Seed, fertilizer, fuel and machinery cost inflation
  • Agricultural machinery breakdowns and maintenance risks
  • Crop diseases, pests and soil degradation
  • Seasonal working capital and financing requirements

Exit strategy

Potential exit opportunities include strategic acquisition by established agribusiness groups, cereal producers, agricultural investment companies or food supply chain operators. Other options may include secondary equity sales, institutional refinancing, negotiated shareholder buybacks and dividend distributions from profitable agricultural operations. The project's long-term value will depend on legally secured land access, crop yields, storage infrastructure, operational efficiency and market conditions. All exit arrangements remain subject to definitive investment agreements and applicable regulations.
